Why Orphan Gospel?

Orphan Gospel was created for three reasons.  The first reason is there are 153,000,000 orphans in the world today which is a staggering number.  The definition of an orphan is “A child deprived by death of one or both parents.  A child who has been abandoned by both parents.  A child who has been deprived of parental care.” Globally, orphans who have lost both parents are sometimes referred to as double or total orphans.  There are approximately 15 million of these children in the world.  In the United States, there are many orphans by definition called “foster” children being deprived of parental care usually by the parent’s choice. The child expects to trust their parent more deeply than anyone else, and is instead treated with neglect, abuse, and abandonment.  These children feel forgotten as though they don’t matter to anyone.  Orphans need our love, care and prayers and for others to show them they are not forgotten, that they do matter to us and to God.  The Bible says in Psalm 82:3 “Defend the weak and fatherless, uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.”

The second reason Orphan Gospel was created is that we believe there is only one hope for this solution, only one answer and that is Jesus.  The Bible says the poor will always be among us, and that even the poor don’t necessarily need all the material things that some nations think they need.  But one thing all nations need is Jesus.  In Matthew 28 18-20 the Bible says “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore, Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  The best way to teach them to know Christ better is for them to first know his word by reading it.  By caring for the orphan, refugee or displaced child, we are also given an opportunity to share the good news of Jesus with their caretaker or family.

Our third reason for starting Orphan Gospel is we see so many organizations out there doing amazing things for orphans and sharing God’s word with them that cannot meet all the needs within their ministry.  We would like to assist them in some of those areas.  We require that they have the utmost integrity and we hope we can grow so that we can share God’s word with more people locally in our own country and around the world.

Therefore the name “Orphan Gospel”.

Our three main focuses are:

1)Caring for children and their physical needs with orphans being the focus

2)Teaching God’s Word to these children so that they become disciples of God

3)Empowering our Ministry Partners and working with Partners that exemplify integrity and transparency.
